About this blog

This blog is unabashedly inspired by the beautiful Web site, Quiet American, which I discovered years ago while doing research for my class on Vietnam. I took about an hour's worth of sound vacations that day and have continued to return.
Mexico City is a gloriously noisy place. I think the only sound I haven't heard since I moved here is silence. I hope this short sound clips will take you far from where you are, or at least around the corner.

Complete descriptions

For more detailed information on the sound files, go to this page at archive.org.
